Smashed through that 100 sub mark - woohoo! Thank you for your valuable screen time and for deciding reading my work is better than scrolling through Twitter.
What I’m working on
Quietly polishing up a novel length work I’ve been tinkering away on.
I also have an idea for another pirate story but that’s on the backburner - in the meantime I have been tormenting myself by writing something in a transcript format which is really hard, why do I do this to myself, etc, but maybe it’ll be fit for the light of day at some point. Or maybe it’ll be consigned to the recycle bin of history.
Learning all about the merry world of literary agents/making innumerable spreadsheets. Because making a spreadsheet = being productive.
What I’ve been reading
The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley. Think Joseph Conrad’s The Secret Agent combined with Angela Carter. Clockwork has never been so sinister.
V L Augustin’s incredible one story A DAY Substack. Impressed doesn’t even begin to cover it. Recent favourites include My Father, the Criminal and Devoured Possibilities.
What I’ll be reading next
An advanced review copy of Nestor Lynch by Newton Webb! Very exciting. I’ve been hearing a lot about this book and looking forward to getting into it.
After that, I am not sure. Do you have any recommendations? Email me and let me know.
What I’ve been watching
Spartacus. Expect more blood, sex and drama than Game of Thrones. Yes, really.
What I’ve listening to
The Blood of Elves on audiobook. Have to say, I’m really getting into the Witcher books, despite never seeing it on Netflix or played the video game. But I think I enjoyed the story stories best.
I love Spartacus: Blood and Sands! Once you get over the fact that all the gladiators have Aussie accents and can read (surprising because they are gladiator's not because they are Aussies) it's an amazing show.
I ❤️ Lucy Lawless and John Hannah.
Oh and Eke Darville, he is amazing in the remake of Interview with a Vampire.
Also, screw Twitter, I choose you over the musky chap any day.
